Remote Places of the Southwest Itinerary

GRAND CANYON NORTH RIM CAMPING

North Rim Luxury Camping offers a serene and enthralling Grand Canyon experience. It is more remote and less developed than the South Rim, therefore attracting far fewer tourists. The North Rim fits nicely into a multi-park tour that includes Zion, Bryce and Lake Powell as it is a relatively short drive between those scenic destinations.

The North Rim Luxury Camp was created for those who want to experience the wild outdoors in comfort. Set up exclusively for you, this private campsite enables you to enjoy the best that nature has to offer in a secluded, tranquil area with upscale accommodations. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your guides with cold refreshments.

Your 150-square-foot custom canvas-walled tents are furnished with queen, twin, or bunk beds, soft down comforters, and bedside tables with lamps. You will have fresh towels, private en-suite toilets, hot showers, a hand washing station, and plenty of shade to comfortably spend your day at camp.

After exploring the great outdoors, unwind in your tent or relax in the lounge area with a book or board game while your guides prepare fresh seasonal meals designed by award-winning Executive Chef Shon Foster. Each meal is crafted based on your preferences and dietary restrictions, including warm treats baked in a Dutch Oven over hot coals. In the evening, a telescope will be set up for stargazing with full access to the vast night sky. Finally, a crackling campfire will be set up for the classic camp experience – s’mores!

DAY 1 / WELCOME TO THE SOUTHWEST / ARRIVAL

Upon arrival into the St. George Airport, your Guide will pick you up and transfer you 2 hours 30 minutes to the Grand Canyon’s North Rim.

After arriving at camp, the remainder of the evening is at your leisure

Overnight Our private tented luxury camp (Dinner)

DAY 2 / GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK

You will have a full day with your Guide to explore the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. There are several short hikes that offer incredible views of the canyon including Cape Royal & Angels Window. Cape Royal is a short hike (approximately 1/2 mile) offering a viewpoint at Angels Window which is a natural arch in the canyon before ending at Cape Royal

For day hikes, your guide may recommend stopping 1.7 miles down at the Supai Tunnel, where water is available, or continuing further an additional 3 miles to Roaring Springs.

After the hike, your guide will transfer you back to your campsite where you will have the remainder of the day to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 3 / BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK / TRANSFER TO ESCALANTE

Today your Guide will transfer you to Bryce Canyon National Park for half a day of privately guided hiking. You’ll spend time in the two largest amphitheaters in Bryce Canyon, hiking into the maze of hoodoos that make Bryce a unique experience. Trail selection will be based on how everyone feels, and your interest in strenuous vs. easy hiking. You’ll hike 2 to 6 miles and then take in some of the great viewpoints along the 17-mile scenic drive further south on the Paunsaugunt Plateau including Bryce Point, Sunrise Point, and Sunset Point.

At the tour’s completion your guide will transfer you 45 minutes to Escalante.

Overnight Our Private tented luxury camp (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

DAY 4 / ESCALANTE NATIONAL MONUMENT

The Escalante region is known for exploring via several different excellent hiking options. This will give you a great sense of the incredible canyons, hoodoos and creeks that dominate the landscape.

You can explore Devils Garden, a unique desert playground of hoodoos and arches. Carved by wind and water over the centuries, the formations stand out in a stark landscape of sand and heat. Right off the main access road the hiking is easy and flat. There is no specific trail to follow – just a pathway winding around the various formations which you can enjoy at a leisurely pace.

Further down Hole-in-the-Rock Road, you will arrive at Spooky Gulch and Peek-a-boo Slot Canyons. This roundtrip hike offers an incredible hiking experience in the remote slot canyon areas of Escalante.

At the end of your tour, your Guide will transfer you back to camp to refresh, rejuvenate, and enjoy dinner under the stars.

Overnight Our Private tented luxury camp (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

DAY 5 / LOWER CALF CREEK FALLS & UTV TOUR / TRANSFER TO TORREY

Calf Creek Falls is one of the most well known and unique features in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The trail follows Calf Creek to the 126-foot high falls. The hike is 6 miles round trip and takes an average hiker approximately 3 to 4 hours in duration.

The trail is sandy which makes walking slightly more difficult, but the elevation change is minimal throughout the hike. Although it may be warm in summer, the falls and shady haven provide a delightfully cool contrast which makes the hike well worth the effort! It’s the perfect place to enjoy a swim and picnic lunch before heading back.

DAY 6 / CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK & ROPING EXPERIENCE

This morning your Guide will transfer you to explore Capitol Reef National Park. This National Park preserves the Waterpocket Fold, a 90-mile long wrinkle in the earth’s crust, called a monocline. The Fold extends 70 miles, from nearby Thousand Lake Mountain to the Colorado River (now Lake Powell). Capitol Reef National Park was established to protect this grand and colorful geologic feature, as well as the spectacular eroded jumble of cliffs, domes, monoliths, twisting canyons and graceful arches. Some trail options in Capitol Reef include:

Chimney Rock Loop – The Chimney Rock Trail is a 3.5-mile route that climbs from UT-24 near the west entrance to Capitol Reef National Park and follows the top of Mummy Cliff while passing close to Chimney Rock, a solitary pillar of Moenkopi sandstone.

Cassidy Arch – Named after the famous Butch Cassidy, Cassidy Arch is located in the central portion of Capitol Reef National Park, specifically just within the western walls of Grand Wash, beside the Scenic Drive. This hike is 3.5 miles round trip.

Hickman Bridge – Just two miles east of the Capitol Reef visitor center, the trailhead to Hickman Bridge offers hikers an easy, spectacularly scenic trek up to a large natural arch.
