ANNAPURNA SIKLIS TREK

The views of the Annapurnas, Machapuchhare and Lamjung is one that will remain etched in one’s mind forever as you make your way through the warm rice fields of Bhurjung Khola. Very quickly your steps lead you to the edge of the rhododendron forest as you trek through Brahmin, Gurung & Magar villages. In April this forest is ablaze with rhododendron and magnolia trees creating a wonderful foreground to the 180-degree panaroma of the Himalayas. Beyond Tarahill, lying at the foot of Lamjung (it’s ridge humped like that of a Gaur – Wild Buffalo) is the village of Siklis. From the villages of Parje and Siklis we climb even higher to sheep pastures where the silence of the mountains is occasionally broken by the thundering avalanches. The fun loving and friendly villagers, their proud and simple lifestyle, the never ending activity in the fields, the  stone steps that connect these remote settlements to ever growing cities, all remind us how much we actually need and with how little they are content with. Through rice fields, fruit orchards and friendly villages you finally make your way to the quiet banks of the Begnas Lake. Your trek ends with a morning boat ride across the tranquil Begnas with its waters reflecting the mountains, a wonderful ending to a lasting journey.

LANGTANG-GANJA LA PASS TREK
Langtang valley lies north of Kathmandu, straddling the Tibetan border. It is as spectacular as some of the more visited regions of Nepal, with several 7000m peaks surrounding the valley, but trekking here is a much moe authentic experience as the number of tourists is much lower than in the Everest and Annapurna regions. Despite its close proximity from Kathmandu the villages inhabited by Tamang and Sherpa people are very isolated. From the fishing town of Dalolghat we take the jeep road to the bazaar of Chautara. From here we begin our trek heading north, entering Langtang National Park, haven of the Red Panda, Thar, Barking Deer, Wild Board, Himalayan Black Bear and the elusive Snow Leopard. For the adventurous trekker the Langtang Ganja La Trek throws an excellent challenge. The hike up the stunningly beautiful Langtang valley with rich wildlife and flora serves as a good warm up to the ascent of Ganja La pass 5100m. A pass that lies south of the village of Kyanjin and just east of Mt Urkin Kangri 5863m and from the top you are rewarded with amazing views of the Langtang and Jugal mountains and the distant peaks that rise well into Tibet. Beyond the pass you will trek through a very isolated and wild part of Nepal that very few visitors have travelled through.

MUSTANG EXPLORATION

Within the political boundary of present Nepal a part of ancient Tibet exists in its rare, beautiful and unspoiled state. This is the Kingdom of Mustang. A Forbidden Place that only recently opened its doors to the outside world and where it’s King and the people still live in their ancient and rich ways. The land can be inhospitable and desolate yet the human spirit is seen here overcoming the odds and turning wastelands into green arable land.  From the warm valley of Pokhara the journey begins with a spectacular mountain flight, through the deepest gorge in the world to the arid landscapes of Jomsom. From here it is a 5 days walk through beautiful and dramatic landscapes created by the hot Indian wind and over many passes to the capital of Lo-manthang. Villages perched on cliffs with their regal looking prayer flags and grand monasteries, people doing their daily agrarian or animal husbandry chores and visits to ancient cave monasteries are some of the activities that make your trek unforgettable and personable.

HIDDEN VALLEYS OF THE KHUMBU AND

EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK

From Lukla you make your way through Namche Baazar staying at luxury lodges. Beyond this point we leave the trekker’s highway to trek and camp as we explore the stunningly beautiful Khangtaiga, Mingbo and the Imja Valleys where yaks graze freely and other trekkers rarely roam. To make our way to Everest Base Camp we avoid the busy Dingboche valley and instead cross over the Khongma La pass. The trek to the meadows towards Khongma La made even more beautiful with many small alpine ponds and a lake below Mt Pokalde. After the pass crossing the Khumbu Glacier is an unforgettable experience as you make your way to Gorakshep, the gateway to Everest Base Camp. Then as you descend down the valley you once again leave the main trail at the village of Pangboche to skirt around the base of Mt Tawoche on a trail that enjoys a panoramic view of the southern horizon that is dominated by Mt Amadabalam, Mt Khangtaiga, Mt Thamserku and Kwangde Himal to camp at Phortse. Finally you make your way to the Gokyo Valley trail that leads you back to Namche and then to Lukla.
