Rwanda Gorilla + Golden Monkey Tracking 4 days
Why this itinerary? A chance to look into the eyes of our closest relatives in the heart of Africa. With very restricted and controlled access these tours should be booked well in advance and with high permit fees this is an expensive add on to an East African safari, but as one guest put it: “It is worth it”. This trip adds one more day for primate lovers!

This trip can be booked to start in either Kenya or Tanzania. We recommend arriving into Nairobi, taking the schedule flight to Kigali, completing the tour and then continuing on to either Kenya OR Tanzania for other great adventures.

IN DETAIL

Day 1 –
KIGALI / RUHENGERI

You arrive at Kigali Airportand are personally met by a representative and you are transferred on a leisurely 2 hour drive north to Ruhengeri.

Overnight Mountain Gorillas Nest (lunch – dinner)

Day 2 –
PARC NATIONAL DES VOLCANS

After an early breakfast you drive to the park offices and arrive at 700hrs. You will be given a briefing by your trackers/guides before driving to the starting point of the track and your track begins here. You will spend an hour with the Golden Monkeys before returning to the base where your driver will be waiting for you. You have lunch at the lodge.

Afternoon you will take a visit by your choice to one of the two following activities:
· Take a scenic view to the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo
· Visit to the ex-poachers villages

Day 3 –
PARC NATIONAL DES VOLCANS / KIGALI

After an early breakfast you drive to the park offices and arrive at 700hrs. You will be allocated a gorilla group followed by a briefing by the park guide. This will be followed by a drive to where the trails start and your track begins. Upon sighting of the gorillas, you will stay with them for a magical hour before returning to the base where your driver will be waiting for you. You have lunch at the lodge and then in the afternoon take a leisurely drive back to Kigali. You enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight Kigali Serena (breakfast – lunch – dinner at own expense)

Day 4 –
KIGALI / DEPART

After breakfast you take a city tour around Kigali. You visit the genocide memorial site and craft centers among other things, then you are transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
