RIDE KENYA

Access to 1.4 million acres of idyllic riding country with Mt Kilimanjaro providing a stunning backdrop. Ride Kenya, located in the foothills of the Chyulu Hills in southern Kenya and near to Ol Donyo Wuas Lodge is an incredible horseback safari experience. The terrain in the area ranges from sloping wooded hills to large open plains, with the occasional need to cross old lava flows. The climate is perfect for riding on warm, sunny days and cool evenings. There are 20 well-trained horses that are accustomed to the Big Five and other wild animals. Your guides accompany you on 4-6 hour rides that embark in the morning and late afternoon, combined with a guided bush walk or game drive in the evening. On some rides, guests will ride between camps, always with lunch provided. Guests need to be comfortable at all paces and fit enough to ride between 4-6 hours each day. The pace is set by guests’ ability, and there are plenty of opportunities for close encounters with game, long canters, galloping and some jumping. The Amboseli Ride is arguably one of the world’s most thrilling horse safaris; the itinerary traverses open wildlife filled savannas and swamps filled with elephant, buffalo, lions, hyena and much more. The ride is designed for an advanced rider, who is used to long days in the saddle and riding at speed.

SINGITA GRUMETI EXPLORE

Singita’s combination of lodges and mobile camp is a completely exclusive experience with access to 340,000 hectares of private land. Singita Grumeti is set in the broad, private Grumeti Game Reserve, which borders the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It has a warm, temperate climate, quintessential savannah scenery, and only three properties in a location that is almost the size of the Masai Mara. The riding is over vast open plains and through savannah forest. Here you will find 16 horses predominantly thoroughbreds, and also a few warmbloods and mixed breeds. They are of good quality and riders need to be capable novices – able to rise to the trot and control the horses at all paces. Guests should expect to spend between two and eight hours in the saddle, through time will be variable to suit fitness and riding ability. Activities include game drives and walks, archery, tennis, hot air ballooning, and mountain biking.
